Upon a Mountain ~~ Don’t think I’ve posted this one yet, and it kindof describes the day had yesterday. Full lyrics below…
I introduced this song at the Hillman Library show as my pseudo-religious song. It’s following a path I’ve been a part of and seeing where it goes… It’s about love and landscape.
I spent the day hiking the Costal Trail in San Francisco, which is simply the most beautiful hike I have done. The ocean is on one side, hiking with the Golden Gate bridge behind you and the national park mountains across the bay. There is no sign of life - not a restaurant or home in sight. I hiked along the steeper trails, and they were brutal, but totally worth it. Very well maintained, but very natural too. Just a wonder.
At night, Megan, Manas, Tracy, Alicia and I went to the Alembic on Haight. Alicia and I were talking to a guitarist about the music scene in San Fran and across the country. I was suprised that he said the best music he’s been a part of was in Boston, and also that San Fran didn’t have much going on right now. A great piece of advice though, one that I’ve been hearing a lot lately: Be where you are. If you are fully yourself and fully *there*, you have the world at your fingertips.
Part of me feels like I could really be at home, make my mark, here in San Francisco. But I’m really excited to go back to Pittsburgh. Funny that… We’ll see what happens once the cold hits…
love more.
